Without them there is no recorded music, no concert business, no merch . . . nothing, it all starts with the song and the songwriter,\u201d SHOF Chairman\u00a0<strong>Nile Rodgers\u00a0<\/strong>said. \u201cWe are therefore very proud that we are continually recognizing some of the culturally most important songwriters of all time and that the 2024 slate represents not just iconic songs but also diversity and unity across genres, ethnicity and gender, songwriters who have enriched our lives and literally enriched music and the lives of billions of listeners all over the world.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Artists who were nominated, but not chosen this year, include\u00a0<strong>Doobie Brothers<\/strong>\u2019\u00a0<strong>Tom Johnston, Patrick Simmons\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Michael McDonald<\/strong>;<strong>\u00a0Blondie<\/strong>&#8216;s<strong>\u00a0Debbie Harry<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0Chris Stein\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Clem Burke<\/strong>;<strong>\u00a0Heart<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Ann\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Nancy Wilson<\/strong>;<strong>\u00a0Randy Bachman\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Burton Cummings<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>founding members of\u00a0<strong>The Guess Who<\/strong>;\u00a0<strong>Bryan Adams<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>George Clinton<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0Tracy Chapman<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0Kenny Loggins<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>David Gates\u00a0<\/strong>of\u00a0<strong>Bread\u00a0<\/strong>and the members of rap group\u00a0<strong>Public Enemy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 2024 class will be celebrated at the annual Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Gala, taking place Thursday, June 13, in New York City.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
