{"id":28402,"date":"2024-01-20T09:01:25","date_gmt":"2024-01-20T09:01:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/auction-for-janis-joplins-pool-table-opens-on-what-wouldve-been-rockers-81st-birthday\/"},"modified":"2024-01-20T09:01:25","modified_gmt":"2024-01-20T09:01:25","slug":"auction-for-janis-joplins-pool-table-opens-on-what-wouldve-been-rockers-81st-birthday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/auction-for-janis-joplins-pool-table-opens-on-what-wouldve-been-rockers-81st-birthday\/","title":{"rendered":"Auction for Janis Joplin\u2019s pool table opens on what would&#8217;ve been rocker\u2019s 81st birthday"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/01\/Getty_JanisJoplin_011924.png\" alt=\"\"><figcaption>\u00a9 Hulton-Deutsch Collection\/CORBIS\/Corbis via Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A pool table once owned by rocker\u00a0<strong>Janis Joplin<\/strong>\u00a0is\u00a0now up for auction.<\/p>\n<p>Coinciding with what would have been Joplin\u2019s 81st birthday on Friday, January 19, Julien\u2019s Auctions announced the launch of an auction of the rocker\u2019s personally owned pool table,\u00a0made by Brunswick-Balke-Collender Co. in the 1920s.<\/p>\n<p>That pool table\u00a0has been in\u00a0Joplin&#8217;s home in Larkspur, California,\u00a0since 1969 and was featured in\u00a0an August 1970\u00a0issue of\u00a0<em>Rolling Stone<\/em>\u00a0that accompanied a review of\u00a0her January 1970\u00a0concert at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Whoever purchases the pool table will be getting it directly from Joplin\u2019s former home, where it currently resides in the same room it did when the rocker was alive.<\/p>\n<p>The auction is happening online through Monday, January 29, with the pool table estimated to sell for between $10,000 and $20,000.
