On This Day, January 25, 1991\u2026<\/p>\n

Paul McCartney<\/strong>\u00a0recorded an episode of\u00a0MTV Unplugged<\/em>\u00a0at Limehouse Studios in Wembley, London.<\/p>\n

The legendary\u00a0Beatle<\/strong>\u00a0took the name of the show literally, performing each song completely unplugged, unlike other artists who used acoustic instruments plugged into amplifiers.<\/p>\n

The set list featured such songs as \u201cBlackbird,\u201d \u201cWe Can Work it Out,\u201d \u201cAnd I Love Her,\u201d \u201cHere, There and Everywhere\u201d and more.<\/p>\n

McCartney\u2019s appearance\u00a0on\u00a0MTV Unplugged<\/em>\u2019s second season proved to be pivotal for the show. As one of the first A-list artists to do the show, he influenced other big name\u00a0stars, including\u00a0R.E.M<\/strong>.,\u00a0Eric Clapton<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Rod Stewart<\/strong>,\u00a0to follow suit.<\/p>\n

The episode aired on April 3, 1991, and a live album of McCartney\u2019s performance,\u00a0Unplugged (The Official Bootleg)<\/em>,\u00a0<\/em>was released a month later, including three songs that were not featured on the program. He was the first artist to release a live album of the show.<\/p>\n
