The Beach Boys<\/strong>‘\u00a0Brian Wilson<\/strong>\u00a0is mourning the loss of his wife,\u00a0Melinda<\/strong>, who passed away Tuesday, January 30, at the age of 77.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy heart is broken. Melinda, my beloved wife of 28 years, passed away this morning,\u201d he wrote\u00a0on social media<\/a>. \u201cOur five children and I are just in tears. We are lost.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMelinda was more than my wife. She was my savior. She gave me the emotional security I needed to have a career,\u201d he continued. \u201cShe encouraged me to make the music that was closest to my heart. She was my anchor. She was everything for us. Please say a prayer for her.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wilson also shared his wife\u2019s obituary in the post,\u00a0in which\u00a0she was described as \u201ca force of nature and one of the strongest women you could come by.” It added, \u201c[S]he was a woman empowered by her spirit with a mission to better everyone she touched.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wilson married Melinda Kae Ledbetter, a Cadillac salesperson, in February 1995, although they had previously dated from 1986 to 1989. She went on to become his manager, and the couple adopted five children together. She was credited with helping separate Wilson from his former psychologist,\u00a0Eugene Landy<\/strong>, and was portrayed by\u00a0Elizabeth Banks<\/strong>\u00a0in the 2014 film\u00a0Love and Mercy<\/em>.<\/p>\n
