Ever since the members of\u00a0Talking Heads<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0David Byrne<\/strong>,\u00a0Chris Frantz<\/strong>,\u00a0Tina Weymouth<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Jerry Harrison<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 reunited for\u00a0September’s Toronto Film Festival celebration of the 40th anniversary of\u00a0Stop Making Sense<\/em>, fans have been hoping it would lead to a musical reunion. Well, it turns out some promoters tried to make that happen but were unsuccessful.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Billboard<\/a><\/em>\u00a0reports that\u00a0Paul Tollett<\/strong>, president of Goldenvoice, the promoters behind Coachella and other festivals, went to Toronto with the hope of\u00a0getting the band\u00a0to reunite onstage for the Indio, California, festival. Unfortunately, his attempts were futile, telling\u00a0Billboard<\/em>\u00a0that during meetings with the artists and their reps he \u201csensed there were no shows happening, so I didn\u2019t make an offer.\u201d<\/p>\n

But he isn\u2019t the only one who tried to persuade\u00a0Talking Heads to perform again. The mag says Live Nation also made an offer to the band: $80 million for headlining slots on six to eight festivals. They rejected it.<\/p>\n

Talking Heads broke up rather acrimoniously back in 1991. The last time they played together was in 2002 at their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.<\/p>\n
