{"id":28674,"date":"2024-02-03T00:00:39","date_gmt":"2024-02-03T00:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/grateful-deads-bill-kreutzmann-comments-on-dead-companys-sphere-residency\/"},"modified":"2024-02-03T00:00:39","modified_gmt":"2024-02-03T00:00:39","slug":"grateful-deads-bill-kreutzmann-comments-on-dead-companys-sphere-residency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/grateful-deads-bill-kreutzmann-comments-on-dead-companys-sphere-residency\/","title":{"rendered":"Grateful Dead\u2019s Bill Kreutzmann comments on Dead &amp; Company\u2019s Sphere residency"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-02-02\/Getty_BillKreutzmann_020224.jpg\" alt=\"\"><figcaption>Erika Goldring\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Dead &amp; Company<\/strong>\u00a0recently announced they\u2019ll be doing a residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, and now drummer\u00a0<strong>Bill Kreutzmann<\/strong>\u00a0has shared his thoughts on the shows in a new\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C22dEtgMa9G\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram post.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHistorically, it was always a psychedelic circus when the Grateful Dead pulled into Las Vegas,\u201d he writes. \u201cThere\u2019s a pulsing beneath those neon lights that\u00a0<strong>Mickey (Hart)<\/strong>\u00a0and I tapped into while\u00a0<strong>Jerry (Garcia)<\/strong>\u00a0led us on a wild carpet ride over the Aladdin Theater in the 1980s and down into the bowl of the Sam Boyd Stadium for 14 memorable nights in the 1990s.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He notes\u00a0that\u00a0<strong>Grateful Dead<\/strong>\u00a0shows have always been \u201cabout transformative experiences,\u00a0so now, as our legacy evolves and as we continue to shape-shift into several different forms at once it\u2019s great that that part of the tradition continues, with Dead &amp; Company taking up residence in a transformative venue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kreutzmann sat out Dead &amp; Company\u2019s final tour in 2023, with the band explaining at the time it was the \u201cculmination of a shift in creative direction as we keep these songs alive and breathing in ways that we each feel is best to continue to honor the legacy of the Grateful Dead.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While he hasn\u2019t confirmed whether or not he\u2019ll be doing the Vegas shows, he did end his post with a statement that could be interpreted as saying\u00a0he won\u2019t. He offered, \u201cTo all those who make it there, have a blast, my friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Dead Forever &#8211; Live at Sphere<\/em>\u00a0will consist of 18 shows over six consecutive weeks, starting May 16. Fans can now\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadandcompany.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">register<\/a>\u00a0for the presale, which starts February 5 at 10 a.m. PT.
