The\u00a080-year-old\u00a0took home Best Folk Album during Sunday&#8217;s award ceremony for<em>\u00a0Joni Mitchell at Newport Live<\/em>, a recording of her 2022 comeback concert at the Newport Folk Festival.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Joni now has 12 Grammys, including a Lifetime Achievement Award; she performed at the Grammys for the first time Sunday,\u00a0the classic \u201cBoth Sides Now\u201d with the help of\u00a0<strong>Brandi Carlile<\/strong>\u00a0and others.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Other winners Sunday included\u00a0<strong>The Beatles<\/strong>\u2019 animated video for the\u00a0<em>Revolver<\/em>\u00a0track \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5XwXliCK19Y\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">I\u2019m Only Sleeping<\/a>\u201d for Best Music Video, the\u00a0<strong>David Bowie<\/strong>\u00a0documentary\u00a0<em>Moonage Daydream<\/em>\u00a0for Best Music Film and\u00a0<strong>Metallica<\/strong>&#8216;s\u00a0<em>72 Seasons\u00a0<\/em>for Best Metal Performance.<\/p>\n<p>And Joni wasn\u2019t the only knockout performance of the evening.<\/p>\n<p><strong>U2<\/strong>\u00a0gave fans a taste of their Sphere residency, rocking out to their\u00a0latest single, \u201cAtomic City,\u201d marking the first televised broadcast from the Las Vegas venue.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tracy Chapman<\/strong>\u00a0joined\u00a0<strong>Luke Combs<\/strong>\u00a0for her classic \u201cFast Car.\u201d It came 35 years after she first performed the song\u00a0at the Grammys.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Remembering the artists we lost this year, the\u00a0in\u00a0memoriam kicked off with\u00a0<strong>Stevie Wonder<\/strong>\u00a0performing a duet of \u201cFor Once In My Life\u201d with a video of\u00a0<strong>Tony Bennett<\/strong>, followed by Stevie&#8217;s\u00a0take of \u201cThe Best is Yet To Come.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Annie Lennox<\/strong>\u00a0paid tribute to\u00a0<strong>Sin\u00e9ad O\u2019Connor<\/strong>\u00a0with a rendition of \u201cNoting Compares 2 U,\u201d although she\u00a0ended her performance on a controversial note, shouting, \u201cArtists for cease-fire! Peace in the world!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0segment wrapped with a tribute to\u00a0<strong>Tina Turner<\/strong>, introduced by\u00a0<strong>Oprah Winfrey<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>Fantasia Barrino<\/strong>\u00a0brought\u00a0the house down with\u00a0her performance of \u201cProud Mary,&#8221; which got the audience up and dancing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And finally,\u00a0<strong>Billy Joel<\/strong>\u00a0brought his new single, \u201cTurn the Lights Back on,\u201d to the Grammys and closed the show with his classic \u201cYou May Be Right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
