{"id":28774,"date":"2024-02-14T00:03:08","date_gmt":"2024-02-14T00:03:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/beach-boys-brian-wilson-to-release-long-lost-country-album\/"},"modified":"2024-02-14T00:03:08","modified_gmt":"2024-02-14T00:03:08","slug":"beach-boys-brian-wilson-to-release-long-lost-country-album","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/beach-boys-brian-wilson-to-release-long-lost-country-album\/","title":{"rendered":"Beach Boys\u2019 Brian Wilson to release long-lost country album"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-02-13\/Getty_BrianWilson_021324.jpg\" alt=\"\"><figcaption> Scott Dudelson\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A country album\u00a0<strong>Brian Wilson<\/strong>\u00a0started producing nearly five decades ago is finally set to see the light of day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/brian-wilson-country-album-cows-in-the-pasture-fred-vail-1234951531\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Rolling Stone<\/a><\/em>,\u00a0<em>Cows in the Pasture<\/em>, which Wilson started in 1970 with\u00a0<strong>Beach Boys<\/strong>&#8216; manager\u00a0<strong>Fred Vail<\/strong>\u00a0on vocals, is expected out sometime next year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Wilson and\u00a0Vail worked on the record in April 1970 while the Beach Boys were recording\u00a0their 16th studio album,\u00a0<em>Sunflower<\/em>, but Wilson chose to abandon the project in the middle of recording.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe never did any keeper vocals,\u201d Vail tells the mag. \u201cThey were mostly just scratch vocals that we never completed. There were no background vocals and no harmonies. It was a lot instrumentation. And when Brian lost interest, I just moved on. It was kind of like, \u2018Out of sight, out of mind.\u2019 I didn\u2019t figure anything would ever be done with them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, the album is finally being finished, thanks to\u00a0producer\u00a0<strong>Sam Parker<\/strong>\u00a0and a series of yet-to-be revealed guest stars. It&#8217;s expected out in 2025,\u00a0with\u00a0a docuseries\u00a0also in the works covering a\u00a0now 79-year-old Vail\u2019s life story and the completion of the album. Wilson is executive producing the new record and will also appear on it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFred always loved country music, and he was a big rodeo guy,\u201d Wilson tells the mag. \u201cHe\u2019s a hell of a guy, one hell of a promoter, and I\u2019m glad his album is coming out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
