On This Day, February 15, 1979\u2026<\/p>\n

At the 21st annual Grammy Awards,\u00a0Billy Joel<\/strong>\u00a0won Record and Song of the Year for the\u00a0love song \u201cJust the Way You Are.\u201d<\/p>\n

The track, written for Joel\u2019s first wife and former manager, was the second single off\u00a0his fifth studio album\u00a0The Stranger,<\/em>\u00a0and was his first U.S. Top 10 single, with the tune peaking at #3. It was also his first gold single.<\/p>\n

Over the course of Joel\u2019s career, he has won five Grammy Awards and was awarded a Grammy Legend Award in 1991.<\/p>\n

On February 4, 2024, Joel returned to the Grammys to perform \u201cTurn the Lights Back On,\u201d his first new single in 17 years, as well as the classic \u201cYou May Be Right.\u201d<\/p>\n
