{"id":28814,"date":"2024-02-20T18:00:08","date_gmt":"2024-02-20T18:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/sam-mendes-to-direct-four-films-about-the-beatles-one-for-each-band-member\/"},"modified":"2024-02-20T18:00:08","modified_gmt":"2024-02-20T18:00:08","slug":"sam-mendes-to-direct-four-films-about-the-beatles-one-for-each-band-member","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/sam-mendes-to-direct-four-films-about-the-beatles-one-for-each-band-member\/","title":{"rendered":"Sam Mendes to direct four films about The Beatles, one for each band member"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-02-20\/M_TheBeatles_ABC.png\" alt><figcaption>ABC<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The story of <strong>The Beatles<\/strong> is about to be told on the big screen in a big way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Sony Pictures just announced that Oscar-winning director <strong>Sam Mendes<\/strong> is on board to direct not one, but four movies about The Beatles, each one told from the point of view of a different band member.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The films mark the first time Apple Corps Ltd. and The Beatles have granted a studio\u00a0the rights to the life stories of band members\u00a0<strong>Paul McCartney<\/strong>, <strong>Ringo Starr<\/strong>, <strong>John Lennon<\/strong> and <strong>George Harrison<\/strong>,\u00a0and their legendary catalog of music.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI\u2019m honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,\u201d Mendes, best known for such films as <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">American Beauty<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\"> and <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Skyfall<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">, shared in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">So far, there\u2019s no word on when production will begin or who\u2019ll be cast in each role.\u00a0The studio promises an &#8220;innovative and groundbreaking&#8221; release for the films, which are due out in\u00a02027.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">While this is the first time\u00a0The Beatles\u00a0have supported a movie about the band, it isn&#8217;t the first time they have been depicted on screen. The 1994 film <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Backbeat<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\"> chronicled the early days of The Beatles, and in 2009,\u00a0<strong>Aaron Taylor-Johnson<\/strong> played Lennon in the film <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Nowhere Boy<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">, which focused on\u00a0the singer&#8217;s teenage years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Beatles were also subject of the 2019 comedy <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Yesterday<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">, about a\u00a0struggling musician who\u00a0wakes up after an accident and\u00a0discovers he&#8217;s the only one in the world who remembers The Beatles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
