Now that it\u2019s been announced that Sam Mendes<\/strong> will direct four separate movies about The Beatles <\/strong>\u2014\u00a0one for each band member \u2014 the speculation\u00a0about who’ll play Paul McCartney<\/strong>, John Lennon<\/strong>, George Harrison<\/strong> and Ringo Starr<\/strong> has begun.<\/span><\/p>\n

Variety<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a> has offered up some of suggestions, including <\/span>Daisy Jones & The Six<\/span><\/em>\u2019s Sam Claflin<\/strong> as\u00a0<\/strong>Lennon.\u00a0Its other Lennon suggestions include<\/span> Heartstopper<\/span><\/em>\u2019s Kit Connor<\/strong>;\u00a0Aaron Taylor-Johnson<\/strong>, who played\u00a0Lennon in\u00a02009’s <\/span>Nowhere Boy;<\/span><\/em>\u00a0and <\/span>Love & Mercy’<\/span><\/em>s Paul Dano<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jacob Elordi<\/strong>, who played Elvis Presley<\/strong> in <\/span>Priscilla<\/span><\/em>, is one of\u00a0its picks for McCartney. Other suggestions include\u00a0<\/span>Billy Elliott<\/span><\/em>‘s\u00a0Jamie Bell<\/strong>,\u00a0although the publication notes that\u00a0at 37 he could be too old; and Tom Holland<\/strong>, although\u00a0it points out\u00a0his <\/span>Spider-Man<\/span><\/em> schedule could get in the way.<\/span><\/p>\n

For Harrison,\u00a0it offers up Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014 although with him already playing Bob Dylan\u00a0<\/strong>in an upcoming movie, <\/span>Variety<\/span><\/em> says that could be “one too many trips through the counterculture” for the actor. Other picks for Harrison include\u00a0<\/span>Sex Education\u2019<\/span><\/em>s Asa Butterfield<\/strong>\u00a0and even Harrison\u2019s son, 45-year-old\u00a0Dhani Harrison<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>although\u00a0it questions his age and whether he can act.<\/span><\/p>\n

Saltburn<\/span><\/em>\u2019s Barry Keoghan<\/strong>\u00a0and <\/span>Harry Potter\u2019<\/span><\/em>s Daniel Radcliffe<\/strong>\u00a0are suggested for Starr, although it also mentions\u00a0Daniel Day-Lewis<\/strong>\u00a0to play the drummer, even though\u00a0it notes he\u2019s too old and already retired from acting.<\/span><\/p>\n

Of course,\u00a0it isn\u2019t just <\/span>Variety<\/span><\/em> offering up suggestions. <\/span>Vulture<\/strong><\/span><\/a> has a\u00a0couple, as well, including Harry Styles<\/strong> as McCartney and\u00a0<\/span>Masters of the Air<\/span><\/em> actor\u00a0Callum Turner<\/strong> as Lennon.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mendes’ planned\u00a0films mark the first time Apple Corps Ltd. and The Beatles have granted a studio the rights to the life stories of band members and their legendary catalog of music. The films are due out in 2027.<\/span><\/p>\n
