Diamond\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Kansas<\/strong> has announced that original drummer <strong>Phil Ehart<\/strong> recently suffered a major heart attack, which is forcing\u00a0the 73-year-old\u00a0to take time away from touring with the band in order to recover.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A\u00a0message on the band\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/KansasBand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Facebook<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\"> page says there\u2019s currently \u201cno timetable for his recovery.\u201d It adds, \u201cWhile not on the road, Phil is remaining in a prominent role with Kansas during his recovery, serving as band manager, as he has done for 40 years.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Kansas is currently on their 50th anniversary tour, and drummer <strong>Eric Holmquist<\/strong> is set to fill in for Ehart. The post notes that Holmquist has been Ehart\u2019s prot\u00e9g\u00e9 for the past 20 years and filled in for him in 2016 when Phil was sick, and again from 2022 to 2023 as Phil was in rehabilitation\u00a0for his arm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Kansas\u2019 next show is happening Friday, March 1, in Richmond, Virginia.
