There\u2019s no doubt Paul McCartney<\/strong>, John Lennon<\/strong>, Ringo Starr<\/strong> and George Harrison<\/strong> had huge success as The Beatles<\/strong>, but their careers certainly didn\u2019t end once the band broke up in 1970.<\/span><\/p>\n

All four members\u00a0went on to have\u00a0successful solo careers, and now <\/span>Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a> is taking a deep dive into their solo material with\u00a0its just-released list of the 100 best Beatles solo songs.<\/span><\/p>\n

The list is compiled by music\u00a0journalist\u00a0Rob Sheffield<\/strong>, who knows a thing or two about The Beatles, having written the 2017 book\u00a0<\/span>Dreaming the Beatles: The Love Story of One Band and the Whole World<\/span><\/em>. In a post on <\/span>social media<\/strong><\/span><\/a> he said compiling the list was a “true labor of love.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Topping the list is McCartney\u2019s 1970 classic \u201cMaybe I\u2019m Amazed,\u201d\u00a0which he wrote for wife Linda McCartney<\/strong>. Sheffield\u00a0writes\u00a0that\u00a0McCartney \u201cwrote his most soulful, passionate, unforgettable love song for Linda, in the aftermath of The Beatles break-up,\u201d adding\u00a0the tune \u201ccaptures the moment when their romance was just beginning.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The couple married in 1969 and were\u00a0together for 29 years until Linda\u2019s death in 1998.<\/span><\/p>\n

Coming in at #2 is Lennon\u2019s 1970 track \u201cGod,\u201d\u00a0which is described as\u00a0the \u201cmost ferocious performance of his lifetime, or practically anyone\u2019s.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Harrison\u2019s \u201cGive Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)” comes in at #3, followed by Ringo\u2019s \u201cIt Don\u2019t Come Easy\u201d at #4 and Lennon\u2019s \u201cMind Games\u201d at #5.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rounding out the top 10 are: McCartney & Wings<\/strong>\u2019 \u201cBand on the Run\u201d at #6, Harrison\u2019s \u201cIsn\u2019t It a Pity\u201d at #7, McCartney\u2019s \u201cToo Many People\u201d at #8, Lennon\u2019s \u201cImagine\u201d\u00a0at #9 and Harrison\u2019s \u201cPure Smokey\u201d at #10.<\/span><\/p>\n
