Legendary music producer\u00a0Sir George Martin<\/strong>, often referred to as the \u201cfifth Beatle,\u201d passed away at age 90.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

With a career that spanned more than six decades, Martin produced all but one of\u00a0The Beatles’\u00a0<\/strong>albums, including 1967\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Sgt. Pepper\u2019s Lonely Hearts Club Band,\u00a0<\/span><\/em>which became the first rock album to win the Grammy for Album of the Year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Martin won six Grammys throughout his career and had 23\u00a0#1 singles in the U.S. In addition to The Beatles, he produced works by such artists as\u00a0Elton John<\/strong>,\u00a0Jeff Beck<\/strong>,\u00a0Kenny Rogers<\/strong>,\u00a0Cheap Trick\u00a0<\/strong>and others.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Among his many honors, Martin was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1999 and received a knighthood in 1996.<\/span><\/p>\n

Martin\u2019s son, Giles Martin<\/strong>, has continued to work with The Beatles, and recently produced\u00a0their final song, \u201cNow and Then,\u201d which uses vocals Lennon recorded on a demo in the late ’70s,\u00a0along with guitar the late\u00a0George Harrison\u00a0<\/strong>recorded in the mid-’90s, and new recordings from\u00a0Paul McCartney\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Ringo Starr<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The tune\u00a0debuted at #1 in the U.K. and #7 on the <\/span>Billboard<\/span><\/em> Hot 100.<\/span><\/p>\n
