On This Day, March 12, 1971\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

The Allman Brothers Band<\/strong> kicked off a two night stand at the Filmore East in New York City.<\/span><\/p>\n

The shows were recorded and later released as the double live album <\/span>At Filmore Live<\/span><\/em>, which featured extended jams of such Allman Brothers\u00a0tunes as “Whipping Post,” “You Don’t Love Me” and “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The album became a breakthrough hit for the band, with many critics considering it one of the best live albums of all time.\u00a0 It\u00a0peaked at #13 on the <\/span>Billboard<\/span><\/em> Album charts and went on to be certified Platinum by the RIAA.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2004, <\/span>At Filmore East<\/span><\/em> was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry.<\/span><\/p>\n
