Dire Straits<\/strong> frontman Mark Knopfler<\/strong> has released his all-star charity single, \u201cGoing Home (Theme From Local Hero),\u201d to benefit Teenage Cancer Trust and Teen Cancer America.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The track, a remake of Knopfler\u2019s own tune, which appeared in the 1983 film <\/span>Local Hero<\/span><\/em>, features over 60 guest artists billed as Mark Knopfler\u2019s Guitar Heroes<\/strong>, including the late\u00a0Jeff Beck\u00a0<\/strong>in his final recording before his January 2023 death.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Other guitarists on the song include\u00a0The Who<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0Pete Townshend<\/strong>,\u00a0Bruce Springsteen<\/strong>,\u00a0Eric Clapton<\/strong>,\u00a0Peter Frampton<\/strong>,\u00a0Queen<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0Brian May<\/strong>,\u00a0Rush<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0Alex Lifeson<\/strong>,\u00a0Joan Jett<\/strong>,\u00a0Black Sabbath<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0Tony Iommi<\/strong>,\u00a0Guns N\u2019 Roses<\/strong>\u2019\u00a0Slash<\/strong>,\u00a0Eagles<\/strong>\u2019\u00a0Joe Walsh<\/strong>,\u00a0Pink Floyd<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0David Gilmour<\/strong>,\u00a0Rage Against the Machine<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0Tom Morello\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0The Rolling Stones<\/strong>\u2019\u00a0Ronnie Wood<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also featured on the track is The Who\u2019s\u00a0Roger Daltrey\u00a0<\/strong>on harmonica,\u00a0Ringo Starr\u00a0<\/strong>and son\u00a0Zak Starkey\u00a0<\/strong>on drums and\u00a0Sting\u00a0<\/strong>on bass.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The single features cover art designed by Sir\u00a0Peter Blake<\/strong>, known for his work on\u00a0The Beatles<\/strong>\u2019\u00a0<\/span>Sgt. Pepper\u2019s Lonely Hearts Club Band<\/span><\/em>, two The Who albums and more.<\/span><\/p>\n

Knopfler announced the charity single back in February and at the time said he was surprisedby how many artists agreed to be on the song. He noted, \u201cI think what we\u2019ve had is an embarrassment of riches, really. The whole thing was a high point.”<\/span><\/p>\n
