Styx<\/strong> is saying goodbye to their bassist Ricky Phillips<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>who’s been with them for 20 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

The rocker announced on <\/span>Facebook<\/strong><\/span><\/a> that after 50 years of being in the\u00a0music\u00a0business, touring with the likes of The Babys<\/strong>, Bad English<\/strong>, Belinda Carlisle<\/strong> and more, he\u2019s decided to to get off the road for a while.<\/span><\/p>\n

“l’m taking a breather,\u201d he writes. \u201cMy last 20+ years of touring and recording with my friends in Styx has come to an end. I am taking a break from the road.” He adds, \u201cI’m not retiring, just taking a break.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI will truly miss the wonderfully-crazy and faithful Styx fans…whose smiling faces I often saw more than my own family,”\u00a0Phillips continues.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

And it sounds like Styx will miss him as well. They responded to Ricky\u2019s post,<\/span>\u00a0sharing<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, \u201cIt was a joy to spend two decades with Ricky Phillips in Styx and we wish him all the best in his next adventure. He\u2019ll always be a part of the Styx family and we\u2019ll miss his presence on our stage and in our touring lives.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

So far, there\u2019s no word on who\u2019ll be taking Phillips\u2019 place. Styx is set to play\u00a0Wallingford, Connecticut, on March 22 and will kick off the Renegades & Juke Box Heroes tour with Foreigner<\/strong> on June 11 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
