The Alarm<\/strong> is revisiting the good old days of MTV with a new album featuring their take on songs considered classics on the music cable network.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The album, <\/span>Music Television<\/span><\/em>, will feature the band\u2019s reinterpretations of such classic MTV staples as The Buggles<\/strong>\u2019 \u201cVideo Killed\u00a0The Radio Star,\u201d which was the first song played on the network;\u00a0Dire Straits<\/strong>\u2019 \u201cMoney For Nothing,\u201d the first song played on MTV Europe;\u00a0Phil Collins<\/strong>\u2019 \u201cIn The Air Tonight\u201d;\u00a0Modern English<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cI Melt With You”; and\u00a0Michael Jackson<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cBeat It.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The first single released from the record is a cover of\u00a0David Bowie<\/strong>\u2019s \u201c<\/span>Man Who Sold The World<\/strong><\/span><\/a>,\u201d which was covered by Nirvana<\/strong> for their classic episode of <\/span>MTV Unplugged<\/span><\/em>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Unplugged<\/span><\/em> was a series that redefined music as we knew it,\u201d\u00a0The Alarm’s Mike Peters<\/strong> shares. \u201cI remember watching in awe at some of the incredible stripped-down arrangements of classic songs and, at the same time envious that I had been denied the opportunity to appear on the show back in the day.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He adds, \u201cThis is my chance to take back part of music television history and pay my respects to an era that changed everything.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Music Television<\/span><\/em> will be available\u00a0to purchase on vinyl and CD\u00a0during the band\u2019s upcoming Live Today Love Tomorrow tour and will be sold in limited-edition yellow\/purple vinyl via the <\/span>band\u2019s website<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
