{"id":29143,"date":"2024-03-28T18:03:17","date_gmt":"2024-03-28T18:03:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/unflattering-portrait-of-paul-mccartney-raises-over-1700-for-charity\/"},"modified":"2024-03-28T18:03:17","modified_gmt":"2024-03-28T18:03:17","slug":"unflattering-portrait-of-paul-mccartney-raises-over-1700-for-charity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/unflattering-portrait-of-paul-mccartney-raises-over-1700-for-charity\/","title":{"rendered":"Unflattering portrait of Paul McCartney raises over $1,700 for charity"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-03-28\/M_PaulMcCartney_ABC.png\" alt><figcaption>ABC\/ Heidi Gutman<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">An unflattering portrait of Sir<strong> Paul McCartney<\/strong> has brought in a nice chunk of change for charity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">London artist <strong>Wilfrid Wood<\/strong> created\u00a0a sculpture of <strong>The Beatle<\/strong>&#8216;s face to be used as the cover art for \u201cPipes of Peace,\u201d McCartney\u2019s contribution to War Child U.K.\u2019s annual <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/secret-7.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Secret 7\u201d auction<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">, in which seven tracks from seven artists get auctioned off to raise money for the organization.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">But Wood says his contribution, a rendering of McCartney\u2019s face on polymer clay,\u00a0was rejected, explaining\u00a0on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C4xWsXtigjG\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=c763152e-aad1-4b12-a5e6-29ec2c4e06a4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Instagram<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\"> that it was \u201cBANNED by Macca and the gang because it was TOO UNFLATTERING.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As a way to still raise money for the charity, Wood decided to auction the sculpture off on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebay.co.uk\/itm\/226056254796?mkcid=16&amp;mkevt=1&amp;mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&amp;ssspo=LXjU3fmPQb2&amp;sssrc=4429486&amp;ssuid=LXjU3fmPQb2&amp;widget_ver=artemis&amp;media=COPY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>eBay<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">, and it sold for over $1,700.
