{"id":29159,"date":"2024-03-29T21:02:02","date_gmt":"2024-03-29T21:02:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/paul-mccartneys-rep-denies-he-banned-unflattering-portrait\/"},"modified":"2024-03-29T21:02:02","modified_gmt":"2024-03-29T21:02:02","slug":"paul-mccartneys-rep-denies-he-banned-unflattering-portrait","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/paul-mccartneys-rep-denies-he-banned-unflattering-portrait\/","title":{"rendered":"Paul McCartney\u2019s rep denies he banned unflattering portrait"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-03-29\/M_PaulMcCartney_ABC.png\" alt><figcaption>ABC\/Heidi Gutman<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Paul McCartney<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0rep is disputing a claim by an artist who suggested that a portrait he made of <strong>The Beatle<\/strong> legend was banned for being unflattering.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As previously reported, London artist\u00a0<strong>Wilfrid Wood\u00a0<\/strong>created a sculpture of McCartney\u2019s face for the cover art for \u201cPipes of Peace,\u201d McCartney\u2019s contribution to War Child U.K.\u2019s annual\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/secret-7.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1 s2\"><strong>Secret 7\u201d auction<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">, but\u00a0shared on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C4xWsXtigjG\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=c763152e-aad1-4b12-a5e6-29ec2c4e06a4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Instagram<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\"> that it\u00a0was \u201cBANNED by Macca and the gang because it was TOO UNFLATTERING.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">McCartney\u2019s spokesperson\u00a0has since denied Wood&#8217;s claim, telling <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/artwork-banned-by-paul-mccartney-for-being-too-unflattering-is-heading-to-auction-3610232#lub2lsbuihgc5frpdh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><span class=\"s1\"><strong>NME<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0the two-time Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Famer \u201cnever saw this artwork.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In the end, a positive thing did wind up coming from the portrait. Wood sold it on eBay for over $1,700 and plans to donate all proceeds to War Child U.K. in their mission to help children affected by conflict in various war zones, including Gaza and the Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
