In March, Pete Townshend<\/strong> suggested The Who<\/strong>\u00a0should\u00a0maybe do one final tour before giving up the road, but now he appears to be backtracking on that idea.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pete\u2019s initial comments came during an interview with <\/span>The New York Times<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a>, with the rocker sharing,\u00a0\u201cIt feels to me like there\u2019s one thing the Who can do, and that\u2019s a final tour where we play every territory in the world and then crawl off to die.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But in a new interview on the<\/span> Sound Up!<\/strong><\/span><\/em> podcast<\/strong><\/span><\/a> hosted by Mark Goodman<\/strong> and Alan Light<\/strong>, Townshend suggests fans shouldn\u2019t take him too seriously.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI was being ironic. I was being British,\u201d he says. <\/span>\u201cI\u2019m not doing a farewell tour. I think I was being sarcastic about it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Back in March, The Who played two shows at London\u2019s Royal Albert Hall for Teenage Cancer Trust. They have no future dates scheduled, although Roger Daltrey<\/strong> does have some U.S. solo\u00a0shows planned, starting May 6 in San Diego.
