The band,\u00a0led by keyboardist and original member <strong>Geoff Downes<\/strong>, just announced dates for The Heat of the Moment tour.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Downes says the idea for the tour came after performing at August&#8217;s tribute concert to\u00a0Asia&#8217;s late lead singer <strong>John Wetton<\/strong>, who passed away in 2017. There, Downes\u00a0performed\u00a0Asia hits with <strong>John Mitchell<\/strong>,\u00a0who previously performed with the\u00a0<strong>John Wetton Band<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Icon<\/strong>\u00a0and newcomer <strong>Harry Whitley<\/strong>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cAnd so it was that the John Wetton tribute last August really reminded me how much Asia\u2019s music belongs on the stage,\u201d he says. \u201cThe response to it all was literally\u2026spine-tingling.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Mitchell and Whitley will join Downes for the new tour, along with <strong>Virgil Donati<\/strong> on drums.\u00a0The 21-city trek, with special guests <strong>Focus<\/strong>, <strong>Martin Turner<\/strong> of <strong>Wishbone Ash<\/strong> and <strong>Curved Air<\/strong>, kicks off July 3 in Ridgefield, Connecticut, and wraps July 31 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">&#8220;I am convinced that John (Wetton\u2019s) spirit is with us as we set out on this new adventure,&#8221; Downes shares. &#8220;After all, it is the Year of the Dragon &#8211; just as it was in 1982, when we released our first Asia album.
