Joni Mitchell<\/strong>\u00a0is once again\u00a0revisiting her archives for a new collection coming in June.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Asylum Albums (1976-1980) <\/span><\/em>will feature remastered versions of four albums: 1976\u2019s <\/span>Hejira<\/span><\/em>, 1977\u2019s <\/span>Don Juan\u2019s Reckless Daughter<\/span><\/em>, 1979\u2019s <\/span>Mingus<\/span><\/em> and the 1980 double live album <\/span>Shadows and Light<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fans are getting the first preview of the set with a remastered version of the <\/span>Hejira<\/span><\/em> track \u201c<\/span>Coyote<\/strong><\/span><\/a>,” which is available now via <\/span>digital outlets<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The collection will\u00a0feature cover art of a Mitchell landscape painting and include an essay written by lifelong Mitchell fan, Oscar-winner Meryl Streep<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not just the artifact \u2013 music and lyrics \u2013 that Joni gives us. Her artistry leaves us, ourselves, changed,\u201d writes Streep. \u201cShe has shifted things around inside us. And that\u2019s how artists change the world.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Asylum Albums (1976-1980) <\/span><\/em>will be released June 21 in a variety of formats, including digitally, as a five-CD set and as a limited edition six-LP set with only 5,000 copies available. All formats are <\/span>available for preorder<\/strong><\/span><\/a> now.<\/span><\/p>\n

Joni previously released\u00a0<\/span>The Asylum Years (1972-1975)<\/em>\u00a0in September 2022,\u00a0<\/strong>which focused on her first four albums with the label.\u00a0Then in October 2023, she\u00a0released\u00a0Joni Mitchell Archives Vol. 3:\u00a0The Asylum Years (1972-1975)<\/em>, featuring\u00a0never-before-heard demos, performances, and early and alternative versions of songs from three of her albums: 1972\u2019s <\/span>For the Roses<\/span><\/em>, 1974\u2019s <\/span>Court and Spark<\/span><\/em>\u00a0and 1975\u2019s <\/span>The Hissing Of Summer Lawns<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Joni’s <\/span>Archives<\/span><\/em> series is set to continue with the next installment, <\/span>Joni Mitchell Archives Vol. 4, <\/span><\/em>which will\u00a0focus on unreleased and live Joni recordings. More info on the set is expected later this year.<\/span><\/p>\n
