On This Day, May 1, 1966\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

The Beatles<\/strong> performed a 15-minute set at the <\/span>New Musical Express\u00a0<\/span><\/em>Annual Poll-Winners All-Star Concert at the Empire Pool in London.<\/span><\/p>\n

The performance, which took place in front of about 10,000 people, wound up being the band\u2019s final scheduled live\u00a0performance in Britain. Their actual\u00a0final\u00a0live show was the 1969 concert on the roof of Apple Studios, but that was a surprise.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Beatles performed a five-song set at the <\/span>NME<\/span><\/em> show, with performances of \u201cI Feel Fine,\u201d \u201cNowhere Man,\u201d \u201cDay Tripper,\u201d \u201cIf I Needed Someone\u201d and \u201cI\u2019m Down.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Other artists on the bill that night included The Rolling Stones<\/strong>, The Who<\/strong>, The Yardbirds<\/strong>, The Spencer Davis Group,<\/strong> Herman’s Hermits<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Roy Orbison<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
