Mark Knopfler<\/strong> reveals in a new interview that he and the late guitarist\u00a0Jeff Beck<\/strong> almost made an album together.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

He shared the news while talking to <\/span>Guitar Player<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a> <\/span><\/em>magazine about his recent charity single <\/span>Going Home (Theme From Local Hero)<\/span><\/em>, which features a contribution from Beck.<\/span><\/p>\n

Knopfler calls Jeff\u2019s playing on the track “beautiful,” noting, \u201cJeff was just something other, y\u2019know?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn fact, we\u2019d just begun some talks, through management, about doing an album together,” he added.\u00a0“I\u2019m really sorry we didn\u2019t get to work together.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Beck’s contribution to <\/span>Going Home (Theme From Local Hero)<\/span><\/em>\u00a0was\u00a0said to be his final recording before his death in January 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n

Going Home (Theme From Local Hero)<\/span><\/em>\u00a0was released in March and raised money for the U.K.’s Teenage Cancer Trust and\u00a0<\/span>Teen Cancer America<\/span>. In addition to Beck, it featured contributions from more than 60 artists, including\u00a0The Who<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0Pete Townshend<\/strong> and Roger Daltrey<\/strong>, Bruce Springsteen<\/strong>,\u00a0Eric Clapton<\/strong>,\u00a0Peter Frampton<\/strong>,\u00a0Queen<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0Brian May<\/strong>,\u00a0Rush<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0Alex Lifeson <\/strong>and Ringo Starr<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
