David Bowie<\/strong> fans are getting another preview of the upcoming box set\u00a0<\/span>Rock \u2018n\u2019 Roll Star<\/span><\/em>, due out June 14.<\/span><\/p>\n

The second release from the set is an alternative version of <\/span>The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars<\/span><\/em> track \u201cLady Stardust,\u201d which was recorded at Trident Studios in London on November 12, 1971. It features Bowie on vocals, Mick Ronson<\/strong> on piano, Trevor Bolder<\/strong> on bass and Woody Woodmansey<\/strong> on drums.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was a shock when I first heard it,\u201d shares Ken Scott<\/strong>,\u00a0the song\u2019s original producer. \u201cI pulled up the faders, and suddenly, what the hell? I had no recollection of it being like that originally, but I guess it was just a guide vocal. But it sounds great, is really interesting and brings a totally different feeling to the song.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Rock \u2018n\u2019 Roll Star, <\/span><\/em>a five-CD\/Blu-ray audio box set, features 29 unreleased tracks that show Bowie\u2019s journey from February 1971 to the release of 1972’s\u00a0<\/span>The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars<\/span><\/em>. Those tracks include early songwriting demos, rehearsals from Bowie\u2019s home, BBC sessions, live performances, outtakes and alternative versions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Blu-ray will include the 2012 remaster of the original\u00a0<\/span>Ziggy Stardust\u00a0<\/span><\/em>album plus additional mixes from 2003. There will also be an alternate version of the album,\u00a0<\/span>Waiting in the Sky (Before the Starman Came to Earth)<\/span><\/em>, featuring recordings made at Trident Studios in December 1971.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n
