LeBrecht II<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Led Zeppelin<\/strong> guitarist <strong>Jimmy Page<\/strong> has paid tribute to guitar great <strong>Duane Eddy<\/strong>, who passed away Tuesday, April 30, at the age of 86.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In a post on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C6gF7rUIEmr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Instagram<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">, Page writes about the first time he saw Eddy perform at the Granada in Kingston in November 1963 and the first time they chatted on the radio in 2011, during a tribute to guitar pioneer <strong>Les Paul<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cMore recently, in 2018, I had the chance to meet Duane and his wife as he performed at the London Palladium alongside<strong> Richard Hawley<\/strong>,\u201d\u00a0Page\u00a0shared. \u201cHe was introduced to the stage that night by <strong>Whispering Bob Harris<\/strong> and it was a pleasure to get the chance to meet him: he was such a lovely man.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">Page noted, \u201cDuane Eddy twanged the thang in the late 50s and 60s and you can hear his character sound appearing throughout the decades of popular music. He will be missed and my thoughts are with his family. RIP, Duane.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Other artists who\u2019ve paid tribute to Eddy include <strong>John Fogerty<\/strong>, who called him \u201ca hero and HUGE inspiration to me,\u201d and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RandysVinylTap\/status\/1786256591735668787\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Randy Bachman<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">, who called Eddy \u201can incredible inspiration to me as a young guitarist.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
