{"id":29449,"date":"2024-05-06T21:02:48","date_gmt":"2024-05-06T21:02:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/jimmy-buffett-celebrated-at-jazz-fest-in-new-orleans\/"},"modified":"2024-05-06T21:02:48","modified_gmt":"2024-05-06T21:02:48","slug":"jimmy-buffett-celebrated-at-jazz-fest-in-new-orleans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/jimmy-buffett-celebrated-at-jazz-fest-in-new-orleans\/","title":{"rendered":"Jimmy Buffett celebrated at Jazz Fest in New Orleans"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-05-06\/Getty_JimmyBuffett_050624.jpg\" alt><figcaption>Josh Brasted\/WireImage<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The late <strong>Jimmy Buffett<\/strong> was celebrated on the final night of New Orleans Jazz Fest Sunday, May 5, with a set by his band, <strong>The Coral Reefer Band<\/strong>, who performed lots of his classic hits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.setlist.fm\/setlist\/the-coral-reefer-band\/2024\/fair-grounds-race-course-new-orleans-la-73a9feb9.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>setlist.fm<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">, the set kicked off with Buffett&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alan Jackson <\/strong>collaboration,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cIt\u2019s Five O\u2019Clock Somewhere,\u201d\u00a0and also included\u00a0\u201cSon of a Son of a Sailor,\u201d \u201cCome Monday,\u201d \u201cA Pirate Looks at Forty&#8221; and \u201cChanges in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes,\u201d with the set ending with the classic \u201cMargaritaville.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Buffett\u2019s daughter <strong>Savannah<\/strong> was on hand to help introduce the song \u201cFins.&#8221; Video shows her taking\u00a0the stage to thank fans for coming to celebrate her father and instructing them\u00a0to get their fins up for her dad, who passed away in September.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cIt\u2019s the eighth day of Jazz Fest and we miss you Jimmy,\u201d she said, \u201cand we are gonna show you how much we love you tonight.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The set also featured several special guests, including\u00a0<strong>Trombone Shorty<\/strong> on \u201cPencil Thin Mustache,\u201d the\u00a0<strong>Preservation Hall<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Jazz<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Band<\/strong> on \u201cUniversity of Bourbon Street\u201d and <strong>Irma Thomas<\/strong> on \u201cI Will Play for Gumbo.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Ahead of the weekend, Jimmy Buffett\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C6jPpaYu__U\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Instagram<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\"> page shared a video of Jimmy talking about how important New Orleans\u00a0was to him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWhat does New Orleans mean to me? \u201cWhere do I start?\u201d he said in the clip. \u201cIt means a whole hell of a lot.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
