On This Day, May 9, 1974 …<\/span><\/p>\n

A 24-year-old Bruce Springsteen<\/strong> opened for Bonnie Raitt<\/strong> at the Harvard Square Theater in Boston.\u00a0Rock critic Jon Landau<\/strong>\u00a0was in the audience and was so impressed that in a review for Boston’s <\/span>The Real Paper<\/span><\/em> he\u00a0wrote these famous words: \u201cI saw rock and roll future and its name is Bruce Springsteen.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Landau and The Boss struck up a friendship, and he was eventually hired by Springsteen as a record producer. His first album with Bruce\u00a0was 1975\u2019s <\/span>Born To Run<\/span><\/em>, with Landau co-producing all of Bruce’s albums through 1992\u2019s <\/span>Human Touch<\/span><\/em> and <\/span>Lucky Town<\/span><\/em>, with the exception of 1982’s\u00a0<\/span>Nebraska<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Landau\u00a0later became Springsteen\u2019s manager, a position he holds to this day.<\/span><\/p>\n

Springsteen, of course, proved Landau’s words true. At age 74, he is still on tour, with his latest trek\u00a0with The E Street Band<\/strong> hitting Belfast, Ireland, on May 9.\u00a0He released his most recent album, <\/span>Only The Strong Survive,<\/span><\/em> in 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n
