{"id":29492,"date":"2024-05-10T21:04:13","date_gmt":"2024-05-10T21:04:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/led-zeppelins-jimmy-page-pays-tribute-to-steve-albini\/"},"modified":"2024-05-10T21:04:13","modified_gmt":"2024-05-10T21:04:13","slug":"led-zeppelins-jimmy-page-pays-tribute-to-steve-albini","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/led-zeppelins-jimmy-page-pays-tribute-to-steve-albini\/","title":{"rendered":"Led Zeppelin\u2019s Jimmy Page pays tribute to Steve Albini"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-05-10\/Getty_SteveAlbini_051024.jpg\" alt><figcaption>Scott Dudelson\/WireImage<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Led Zeppelin<\/strong> guitarist <strong>Jimmy Page<\/strong> is the latest musician to pay tribute to prolific punk rock musician and audio engineer <strong>Steve Albini<\/strong>, who died Tuesday, May 7, at age 61.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI was very sad to hear of Steve Albini\u2019s passing this week,\u201d Page <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C6ytqAAoUyI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>wrote on Instagram<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">, mentioning that he and his Led Zeppelin bandmate <strong>Robert Plant<\/strong> worked with Albini on\u00a0the 1997 album <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Walking in Clarksdale. <\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">He noted it\u2019s \u201ca record I\u2019m still really proud of.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">Walking in Clarksdale<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\"> was the only studio album Page and Plant released together following the breakup of Led Zeppelin. It debuted at #8 on the <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Billboard<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\"> 200 Album chart, with the single \u201cMost High,\u201d winning the 1999 Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI had a strong connection with Steve, we all did on that album, and he came with such pedigree and experience as one of the world\u2019s leading mixers and audio engineers,\u201d Page writes. \u201cHe loved working with analogue tape, in fact his own band was called Shellac.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Page\u00a0described Albini as \u201cpassionate and knowledgable (sic),\u201d calling out his work on <strong>Nirvana<\/strong>\u2019s third album <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">In Utero<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">, as well as with bands like the <strong>Pixies<\/strong> and <strong>Bush.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">He concluded, \u201cHe had an impressive CV and leaves a real legacy.
