A pair of boots worn by Sir\u00a0Paul McCartney<\/strong> are being auctioned off at Sotheby\u2019s to raise money for Meat Free Mondays.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The black vegan suede boots, which McCartney designed with shoemaker Crispinians, were made for\u00a0the rocker’s On The Run world tour and were worn during\u00a0his\u00a0finale performance at the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAs it was time for me to get myself a new pair of boots I thought this might be a good way to help our Meat Free Monday campaign celebrate its 15th anniversary,\u201d\u00a0Paul shared. \u201cMe and my boots have great memories of that special evening at the Olympic opening ceremony in London. It was a high to be involved with such an awesome and spectacular event. Something I\u2019ll remember forever.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The auction is set to begin on May 24, with the boots estimated\u00a0to sell\u00a0for\u00a0between $12,000 and $19,000.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meat Free Mondays is a nonprofit co-founded by Paul, Mary\u00a0McCartney<\/strong> and Stella McCartney<\/strong> in 2009 to encourage\u00a0people to help the environment by committing to eating at least one plant-based meal a week.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a great idea, and I urge you to try it, and if you like it then spread the word,\u201d\u00a0Paul says. \u201cAnd if enough people do it, it really will make a considerable difference to the future of this planet.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n
