Dead & Company<\/strong> launched their much anticipated <\/span>Dead Forever<\/span><\/em> residency at the Sphere Las Vegas Thursday, May 16, treating their fans to a set of favorites, accompanied by <\/span>spectacular images<\/strong><\/span><\/a> that engulfed the venue.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The band made good use of the\u00a0Sphere’s wraparound LED screens, which as the show opened, featured images of scaffolding that slowly opened to\u00a0scenes of the Haight-Ashbury area of San Francisco where Grateful Dead<\/strong> originated. Throughout the show, the images onscreen changed to include such things as their infamous Wall of Sound audio system, concert posters from over the years, The Dead skeleton and dancing bears.<\/span><\/p>\n

As for the music, according to <\/span>setlist.fm<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, the band kicked things off with The Dead track \u201cFeel Like A Stranger.\u201d The 19-song set also included plenty of other Dead tunes, like \u201cUncle John\u2019s Band,\u201d \u201cJack Straw\u201d and \u201cSt. Stephen,\u201d plus covers of Bob Dylan<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cKnockin\u2019 On Heaven\u2019s Door\u201d and The Crickets<\/strong>\u2019 \u201cNot Fade Away.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Dead & Company have two more Sphere shows this weekend, Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18, with\u00a0the residency\u00a0scheduled to run through Saturday, July 13. A complete list of dates can be found at <\/span>deadandcompany.com<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
