{"id":29563,"date":"2024-05-21T21:02:29","date_gmt":"2024-05-21T21:02:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/riley-keough-fighting-auction-of-elvis-presleys-graceland-claims-fraud\/"},"modified":"2024-05-21T21:02:29","modified_gmt":"2024-05-21T21:02:29","slug":"riley-keough-fighting-auction-of-elvis-presleys-graceland-claims-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/riley-keough-fighting-auction-of-elvis-presleys-graceland-claims-fraud\/","title":{"rendered":"Riley Keough fighting auction of Elvis Presley\u2019s Graceland, claims fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-05-21\/Getty_RileyKeough_052124.jpg\" alt><figcaption>Dia Dipasupil\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Elvis Presley<\/strong>\u2019s eldest granddaughter, actress\u00a0<strong>Riley Keough<\/strong>,\u00a0is fighting to keep Elvis&#8217;\u00a0legendary Memphis home, Graceland, from going on the auction block.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">According to legal documents, a company called Naussany Investments &amp; Private Lending has claimed that\u00a0Elvis&#8217; only child,\u00a0<strong>Lisa Marie Presley<\/strong>, borrowed $3.8 million from them, putting up Graceland as collateral, and then didn\u2019t pay them back.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Naussany then put a lien on the iconic home and its grounds, and scheduled an auction of the property for May 23 \u2014 but Riley went to court to put a stop to it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Riley&#8217;s\u00a0lawyers argue in her suit that Lisa Marie never borrowed money from Naussany and the company \u201cappears to be a false entity created for the purpose of defrauding&#8221; Lisa Marie&#8217;s heirs, Promenade Trust,\u00a0which is the company that owns Graceland, and anyone who may purchase Graceland in\u00a0its auction.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">It also claims that any documents claiming Lisa Marie took out a loan are forgeries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A judge has issued a temporary restraining order on the sale, with a hearing on the matter scheduled for Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Elvis purchased Graceland in 1957. It was turned into a museum after his death, drawing visitors from all over the world. Each year on August 16, the anniversary of Elvis&#8217; death, they hold a candlelit vigil in his honor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">ABC Audio has reached out to Riley\u2019s rep for comment on the suit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
