{"id":29602,"date":"2024-05-28T15:02:47","date_gmt":"2024-05-28T15:02:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/on-this-day-may-28-1945-john-fogerty-was-born\/"},"modified":"2024-05-28T15:02:47","modified_gmt":"2024-05-28T15:02:47","slug":"on-this-day-may-28-1945-john-fogerty-was-born","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/on-this-day-may-28-1945-john-fogerty-was-born\/","title":{"rendered":"On This Day, May 28, 1945: John Fogerty was born"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-05-23\/ABCAudio_ThisDayInHistory_v03_ag_1.jpg\" alt><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">On This Day, May 28, 1945 &#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Legendary rocker <strong>John Fogerty<\/strong> was born in Berkley, California.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Fogerty rose to fame as the lead singer, lead guitarist and principal songwriter for the rock band <strong>Creedence<\/strong> <strong>Clearwater Revival<\/strong>, which he co-founded in 1968 with his brother <strong>Tom Fogerty<\/strong>, <strong>Doug Clifford<\/strong> and <strong>Stu<\/strong> <strong>Cook<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The band had nine top-10 singles, including such classics as \u201cProud Mary,\u201d \u201cBad Moon Rising,\u201d \u201cFortunate Son,\u201d \u201cWho\u2019ll Stop the Rain,\u201d \u201cGreen River,\u201d \u201cHave You Ever Seen The Rain\u201d and \u201cDown on The Corner.\u201d Eight of their albums have been certified Gold.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">CCR broke up in 1972 and Fogerty launched a successful solo career.\u00a0His 1985 solo album,\u00a0<\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Centerfield,<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0gave him his first and only solo top-10 single, \u201cThe Old Man Down The Road.\u201d\u00a0Fogerty was inducted into the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In January 2023, after a 50-year battle with his former record label, Fogerty regained control of the worldwide publishing rights to his music with\u00a0Creedence Clearwater Revival,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>which encompassed more than 65 songs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Fogerty will be hitting the road this summer, with his tour kicking off June 2 in Simpsonville, South Carolina.
