Legendary musician\u00a0Randy Bachman<\/strong>, founder of such bands as\u00a0The Guess Who\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Bachman-Turner Overdrive<\/strong>, is auctioning off over 200 guitars from his personal collection via <\/span>juliensauctions.com<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. <\/strong>He decided to do so after dealing with some serious health issues.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bachman tells ABC Audio that he had \u201cfour or five health challenges in a row,\u201d including Covid and four different cancers, and he says\u00a0surviving\u00a0them\u00a0\u201cmade me look at my fragility.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He decided to ask his eight kids if they\u2019d want his guitars when he was gone, and they all said they\u2019d rather have money, and knowing he\u2019d get more for them alive than they would get for\u00a0them after he was gone,\u00a0Bachman decided to sell.<\/span><\/p>\n

And the lot of guitars available\u00a0is certainly impressive, including his \u201959 Les Paul, which hasn\u2019t been played since 1970.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe last thing I played it on was ‘American Woman,\u2019” he says, referring to The Guess Who classic, which spent three weeks at #1.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThese all played on number one records and albums. So I want to make a big deal out of it,\u201d he says of the guitars up for auction. “I want them all to get a good home.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Of course, it won’t be easy to say goodbye to his instruments. When asked which guitar will be the hardest to say goodbye to, Bachman joked, “every single one.”\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
