Rush<\/strong>\u2019s Alex Lifeson<\/strong> helped his bandmate Geddy Lee<\/strong> promote his memoir,\u00a0<\/span>My Effin Life,<\/span><\/em> last year, popping up at\u00a0some book tour stops where he and Geddy got to share stories from their days in Rush.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lifeson, of course, plays a big role in Geddy\u2019s story,\u00a0so he appears in the book often. So, how did he feel reading about himself and their times together?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c(Geddy)\u00a0sent me a copy of the first edited version,\u201d he tells ABC Audio. \u201cI cried, I laughed out loud, I was mesmerized by it.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I read it, it really struck me that we have this amazing friendship that’s lasted for half a century,\u201d he adds. \u201cAnd it started out as just two kids in junior high school who were buddies and then started a basement band that became a garage band, that became a high school band and on and on.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Lifeson\u00a0notes that what happened to them was a \u201cdream come true for so many young musicians and so many certainly male teenagers. It’s a remarkable story.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Now that Geddy\u2019s written his memoir, does Lifeson feel the need to tell his side of things with his own?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI’m way too lazy for that,\u201d he says. \u201cBut I keep getting asked that and my wife says I should do it just because there’s stories I tell, road stories, she said are so hilarious, if you put them in a nice little book, it could be a real fun thing.”<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

He adds, \u201cSo who knows, maybe if I can get some motivation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
