E Street Band<\/strong> guitarist Stevie Van Zandt<\/strong> is the subject of a new documentary, <\/span>Stevie Van Zandt: Disciple<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a>,<\/span><\/em> which will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Festival in New York on Saturday, before premiering on Max June 22.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

After over 50 years in music, you\u2019d think he\u2019d be comfortable in the spotlight, but Van Zandt tells ABC Audio he initially wasn\u2019t keen on the idea of seeing his life on film.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI really am quite grateful and honored that somebody would care enough about my life to want to make a movie about it,\u201d he shares. \u201cBut at the same time, you know, I’m always going to be a little bit uncomfortable about being the center of attention.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Bill Teck<\/strong>, the film’s director,\u00a0<\/strong>says Van Zandt was so uncomfortable that it took decades\u00a0to get him to agree to the project.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe wasn’t even in the movie at the beginning,\u201d Teck says. \u201cHe wanted me to do [it] with file footage and podcasts, and finally we convinced him to sit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

After the premiere Van Zandt heads back to Europe to\u00a0resume the Bruce Springsteen<\/strong> summer tour, which was postponed for three shows after\u00a0<\/strong>The Boss\u00a0suffered vocal issues.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s great,\u201d Van Zandt says\u00a0of Springsteen\u2019s health, noting that since the three postponed shows have been moved to 2025, \u201cwe may have another summer added to the tour, which is wonderful.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

And fans who catch the shows now will see a looser set than they did with the first leg.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBruce is going back to picking out signs out of the audience, you know, taking requests,\u201d Van Zandt says, although he notes, \u201cwe usually do a wide range of emotions throughout the show and that will remain the same.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
