The Who<\/strong>‘s Roger Daltrey<\/strong> is getting ready to launch a solo acoustic tour, and while he\u2019s not with bandmate Pete Townshend<\/strong>, Who fans can expect to hear plenty of songs they know and love.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer tells ABC Audio that while he\u2019ll \u201cplay any Who song\u201d on the tour, he prefers to pick ones \u201cthat have a resonance with things that\u00a0are happening\u00a0today.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But those songs may sound a little different than\u00a0what fans are accustomed to.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not trying to be The Who,\u201d Roger says of his performances, noting with his current band he can have fun with \u201cdifferent interpretations\u201d of\u00a0classics\u00a0like \u201cWon\u2019t Get Fooled Again.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI can leave the big scream out. It doesn’t need it,\u201d he says. \u201cIt makes you hear the song again for the first time if you play it with different instruments and it becomes something else, which is kind of interesting.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Another thing he enjoys about these solo acoustic shows is, \u201cI can hear myself,” adding that during most of his career with The Who, “I haven’t been able to hear myself at all.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Roger turned 80 in March and you\u2019d think he\u2019d consider taking a break from the road, but there\u2019s a good reason why he still goes out there.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWell, it pays the rent,\u201d he joked, before getting serious.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI’ve been given a gift, it will be criminal not to use it until it’s no good anymore and at the moment, it’s really, really good,\u201d he says. \u201cWhen it starts to go, I shall stop.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But for now, there\u2019s no stopping Daltrey. His tour kicks off June 10 in Glenside, Pennsylvania, and runs through June 29 in Highland Park, Illinois. A complete list of dates can be found at <\/span>thewho.com<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
