Journey<\/strong>\u2019s Neal Schon<\/strong> and Jonathan Cain<\/strong> have been publicly at odds in recent years, with both sides filing lawsuits against each other and being very\u00a0vocal about their differing political beliefs.<\/span><\/p>\n

But the pair are heading back out on the road\u00a0in July for the Summer Stadium Tour with Def Leppard<\/strong>, and in an interview with journalist <\/span>Lyndsey Parker<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, Schon reveals they\u2019ve put their differences aside for the music.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just decided that the music is the music,\u201d he says. \u201cWe worked really hard and diligently on keeping this thing alive all these years and just not let the other stuff get in the way and kind of keep it separate,\u201d he shares. \u201cIt\u2019s all right for us to have separate beliefs on everything.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He adds, \u201cAnytime you [get political] and you segregate, you\u2019re going to lose fans. And why would you want to do that? Just keep it open for everyone to be able to enjoy your music as music.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

When it comes to politics, Schon says he\u2019s \u201cnot a fan\u201d of Journey songs being used by candidates, noting he doesn\u2019t think music and politics \u201cgo hand-in-hand.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI think we should remain neutral and let everybody enjoy what they want to enjoy, and I think it\u2019s nobody\u2019s business,\u201d he says. \u201cI think that music is the greatest communicator of the world and that it shouldn\u2019t have a label on it to be one way or another.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
