{"id":29899,"date":"2024-07-11T18:04:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-11T18:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/elvis-costello-offers-surprises-at-philly-show-after-band-members-fall-ill\/"},"modified":"2024-07-11T18:04:00","modified_gmt":"2024-07-11T18:04:00","slug":"elvis-costello-offers-surprises-at-philly-show-after-band-members-fall-ill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/elvis-costello-offers-surprises-at-philly-show-after-band-members-fall-ill\/","title":{"rendered":"Elvis Costello offers surprises at Philly show after band members fall ill"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-07-11\/Getty_ElvisCostello_071124.jpg\" alt><figcaption>Sergione Infuso\/Corbis via Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Elvis Costello<\/strong> fans got a bit of a surprise at his show in Philadelphia Wednesday night.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Earlier in the day, the\u00a0rocker revealed in an Instagram Story that two members of his band <strong>The Imposters<\/strong> were \u201cindisposed,\u201d so he was going to \u201cinitially take the stage alone,\u201d adding \u201csurprises and hilarity will ensue.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.setlist.fm\/setlist\/elvis-costello-and-the-imposters\/2024\/td-pavilion-at-the-mann-philadelphia-pa-43548393.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>setlist.fm<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">, Costello opened the show at the The Mann Center for the Performing Arts with just his longtime collaborator <strong>Steve Nieve<\/strong>, explaining that Imposters band member <strong>Davey Faragher<\/strong> and guitarist <strong>Charlie Sexton<\/strong> had \u201cfallen afoul of a bad piece of fish.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He then treated the crowd to a set that included classics like \u201cPump It Up,\u201d \u201cAccidents Will Happen,\u201d \u201cA Face in the Crowd\u201d and more, before being joined by Imposters drummer <strong>Pete Thomas<\/strong>, who remained for the rest of the set.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He went on to play hits like \u201c(The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes,\u201d which was dedicated to <strong>Willie Nelson<\/strong>, \u201cAlison,\u201d \u201cEveryday I Write The Book,\u201d \u201cPeace Love and Understanding\u201d and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Costello is currently on a co-headlining tour with <strong>Daryl Hall<\/strong>. They play Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, on Friday.
