Singer\/songwriter Dave Loggins<\/strong>, best known for his tune \u201cPlease Come To Boston,\u201d died July 10, according to an obituary published in <\/span>The Tennessean<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dave, second cousin of Grammy-winning singer Kenny Loggins<\/strong>, passed away at Alive Hospice in Nashville at the age of 76.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cPlease Come to Boston,\u201d released in April 1974, was a <\/span>Billboard<\/span><\/em>\u00a0Hot 100 top five hit and also topped the <\/span>Billboard<\/span><\/em> Easy Listening chart. It also earned\u00a0Dave a Grammy nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal performance.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

In addition to \u201cPlease Come to Boston,\u201d Dave earned a CMA Award for his 1986 duet with Anne Murray<\/strong>, \u201cNobody Loves Me Like You Do.\u201d He also wrote songs for such artists as Johnny Cash<\/strong>, Jimmy Buffett<\/strong>, Smokey Robinson<\/strong>, Tanya Tucker<\/strong>, Joan Baez<\/strong>, Willie Nelson<\/strong>, Kenny Rogers<\/strong> and more.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The obit notes that Dave’s song \u201cAugusta\u201d is the theme song to the Augusta Masters Golf Tournament, which is \u201cthe longest running sports theme in history.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
