While The Police<\/strong> may have put out some legendary albums throughout their career, drummer Stewart Copeland<\/strong> says that making those albums wasn\u2019t\u00a0necessarily a pleasant experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a great bond, which wasn\u2019t strong enough to make recording together very easy,\u201d Copeland tells <\/span>The Guardian<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a>\u00a0when asked about his relationship with bandmates Sting<\/strong> and Andy Summers<\/strong>. \u201cWe tore each other\u2019s throats out in the studio but those two motherf****** came up with incredible stuff and we got on really well on stage, in the van, on the plane.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

As for their current relationship, Copeland shares, \u201cTo this day we still send each other dumb Instagram clips. It\u2019s a myth that Sting and I fought all the time. I broke his rib once, but we were play-fighting.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Police are set to reissue their final and most successful album, <\/span>Synchronicity,<\/span><\/em> on July 26, and Copeland describes recording the album as \u201cvery dark.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe beat the crap out of each other,\u201d he says. \u201cWe\u2019ve laughed about it since, but going back into that black hole isn\u2019t something we tended towards.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The super deluxe edition of the reissue includes 55 previously unreleased tracks \u2014 alternate takes, instrumentals, demos and live recordings \u2014 and Copeland is hinting at that other albums may get similar treatment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

He notes, \u201cBut it was such fun listening to the demos and songs that didn\u2019t make it, so there will be more reissues. We\u2019re starting at the end and working backwards.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
