Cohen\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Steely Dan<\/strong>\u00a0appears to be to\u00a0calling out\u00a0<strong>Donald Trump<\/strong> and the Republican National Convention for using their music.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span>The <\/span><strong>Donald Fagen<\/strong><span> led band <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelydan.com\/news\/hey-sixwire\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>posted a message<\/strong><\/a><span> on their website to <\/span><strong>Sixwire<\/strong><span>, the house band at this weeks\u2019 convention in Milwaukee, who played a series of classic rock covers, including Steely Dan\u2019s \u201cReelin\u2019 in the Years.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In the post they noted, \u201cIf you want to play our music how about playing The Man in the TIN FOIL HAT?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">&#8220;Tin Foil Hat&#8221; is an anti-Trump song\u00a0released by <strong>Todd Rundgren<\/strong>\u00a0in 2017 that features Fagen singing. He also co-wrote the tune.\u00a0The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=los9WulxBjM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>accompanying\u00a0video<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0for the track\u00a0appears to mock Trump, Fox News and Trump\u2019s associates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This isn\u2019t the first time a band has been upset that one of their songs has been associated with the Trump campaign. <strong>Neil Young<\/strong> sued Trump\u2019s campaign for using his songs at rallies. Plus, the estates of <strong>Isaac Hayes\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Tom Petty<\/strong>&#8216;s have called out Trump for using the artists&#8217; music without permission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
