On This Day, July 19, 1986 \u2026<\/p>\n

Genesis\u00a0<\/strong>landed their first and only #1 song on the\u00a0<\/span>Billboard\u00a0<\/span><\/em>Hot 100 with \u201cInvisible Touch,\u201d the title track of the band\u2019s 13th studio album.<\/span><\/p>\n

The tune was the first of five consecutive top\u00a0five singles from the album, the others being \u201cLand of Confusion,\u201d and \u201cThrowing it All Away,\u201d which both went to #4, and \u201cIn Too Deep\u201d and \u201cTonight, Tonight, Tonight,\u201d which both went to #3.<\/span><\/p>\n

Invisible Touch\u00a0<\/em>was a hugely successful album for Genesis, with more than 6 million copies sold in the U.S. It peaked at #3 on the\u00a0Billboard\u00a0<\/em>Album chart.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, the week \u201cInvisible Touch\u201d was at #1, Genesis\u2019 former frontman\u00a0Peter Gabriel\u00a0<\/strong>was just behind them at #2 with \u201cSledgehammer,\u201d which eventually went to #1 a week later.<\/span><\/p>\n
