{"id":30011,"date":"2024-07-26T18:03:08","date_gmt":"2024-07-26T18:03:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/paul-mccartney-pays-tribute-to-john-mayall\/"},"modified":"2024-07-26T18:03:08","modified_gmt":"2024-07-26T18:03:08","slug":"paul-mccartney-pays-tribute-to-john-mayall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/paul-mccartney-pays-tribute-to-john-mayall\/","title":{"rendered":"Paul McCartney pays tribute to John Mayall"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-07-26\/Getty_JohnMayall_072624.jpg\" alt><figcaption>Ross Marino\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Paul McCartney<\/strong> is the latest musician to pay tribute to legendary British blues\/rock guitarist <strong>John Mayall<\/strong>, who passed away Monday at the age of 90.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cIn the 1960\u2019s we would meet at one of the late-night music clubs and often go back to his house where he had a huge and glorious collection of records,\u201d McCartney <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C94engJsMFR\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>writes on Instagram<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">. \u201cDuring these moments he became a mentor and would educate me on a lot of the blues guitarists playing at the time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI would lounge back in the armchair, and he would play tracks by people like <strong>BB King<\/strong>, <strong>Buddy Guy<\/strong>, <strong>Albert King<\/strong> and many other great players. He would then play me tracks by <strong>Eric Clapton<\/strong> who was later in his band <strong>The Bluesbreakers<\/strong>,\u201d McCartney continued. \u201cThe more he played the more I could see the links between all these great guitarists. Besides being very entertaining, it was a great education noticing the similarities between these stunning players.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He concludes the post by sharing, \u201cJohn was a lovely, down to earth man from the North of England so we found it easy to relate to each other and I will always thank him for his love of music, the blues and his willingness to turn others on to what he knew.\u201d He ended the post with a simple, \u201cThanks John, love you!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Mayall\u2019s band\u00a0Bluesbreakers<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>was a breeding ground for future well-known rock stars. Different incarnations of the band featured\u00a0such artists as Clapton,\u00a0<strong>Fleetwood\u00a0Mac<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0<strong>John McVie<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Mick Fleetwood\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Peter Green<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>The Rolling Stones<\/strong>\u2019\u00a0<strong>Mick Taylor<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Cream<\/strong>&#8216;s\u00a0<strong>Jack Bruce.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Mayall is due to be inducted into the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame in October in the Music Influence category.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
