{"id":30064,"date":"2024-08-05T15:02:48","date_gmt":"2024-08-05T15:02:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/journeys-jonathan-cain-explains-reason-for-lawsuit-against-bandmate-neal-schon\/"},"modified":"2024-08-05T15:02:48","modified_gmt":"2024-08-05T15:02:48","slug":"journeys-jonathan-cain-explains-reason-for-lawsuit-against-bandmate-neal-schon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/journeys-jonathan-cain-explains-reason-for-lawsuit-against-bandmate-neal-schon\/","title":{"rendered":"Journey\u2019s Jonathan Cain explains reason for lawsuit against bandmate Neal Schon"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-08-05\/Getty_JonathanCain_080524.jpg\" alt><figcaption>Mindy Small\/FilmMagic<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Journey<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>Jonathan Cain<\/strong> is explaining the reason he filed a lawsuit in Delaware against his bandmate <strong>Neal Schon<\/strong>\u00a0over\u00a0Schon&#8217;s\u00a0allegedly excessive spending.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A statement from Cain\u2019s Delaware attorney, <strong>Sid Liebesman<\/strong>, says the suit was filed to request the court \u201cappoint a third, independent director to serve on the board of Freedom 2020, Inc., the corporate entity through which Journey primarily conducts the band\u2019s business.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The statement\u00a0adds that there have been &#8220;growing issues&#8221; between Neal and Jon due to them being the sole directors of the company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cNo claims against Neal were asserted in the petition and the only form of relief sought is the appointment of a third director,&#8221; the statement adds.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Cain\u2019s suit, which was filed July 24, claims Schon has made several financial decisions\u00a0costing the band money, including maxing out a $1 million limit on the company\u2019s American Express credit card, going over the band\u2019s $1,500-a-night max hotel fee, charting private jets and more. It also claims Schon has stopped attempts to pay off the band&#8217;s debts.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The court docs describe the issues as\u00a0&#8220;very much [a] public battle between petitioner and respondent and is impacting the band\u2019s reputation throughout the music industry. The band\u2019s actual onstage performance is, at the moment, one of the only aspects of the business that has not suffered.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Liebesman\u2019s statement notes the hope is\u00a0that a third party \u201cwill provide resolution to the issues between Jon and Neal.\u201d It adds, \u201cNone of the parties are seeking any form of damages. It is Jon\u2019s intent for Journey to continue providing great live music throughout the current tour.&#8221;<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This isn\u2019t the first time Cain has sued Schon over money.
