Cross<\/strong>, a prominent figure of the Seattle grunge scene who also co-authored the 2012 biography\u00a0<\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Kicking &amp; Dreaming: A Story of Heart, Soul, and Rock &amp; Roll<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\"> with Nancy and her sister and bandmate <strong>Ann Wilson<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWhadda one of a kind guy. His passion and purpose was to make it his life\u2019s work to celebrate and chronicle the beautiful global renaissance that started with our local Seattle music scene,\u201d Nancy wrote <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C-jcqg9JYsB\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=14fd9055-0901-4312-af3a-41b6c7508c2d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>on Instagram<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">. \u201cCharley was the coolest rock litterati bookworm to ever be lucky enough to know. And all us cool rock people got to feel even cooler to know him and call him a friend.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Calling Cross \u201cthe cutest bespeckled nerd at the dance,\u201d Nancy\u00a0shared that he was \u201cour trusty biographer and implicitly trusted friend. Never selatious never invasive always impeccably appropriate and always brought that sharp worldly humor with him.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Finally, she shared, \u201cI truly loved Charley Cross. One of a kind class act. Rest in wit and wisdom dear fine feathered friend.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Cross\u2019 family shared news of his death in a statement, saying he &#8220;died peacefully of natural causes in his sleep on August 9th, 2024.&#8221; He was 67.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In addition to the Heart biography, Cross chronicled the rise of grunge in Seattle and wrote a biography of the late\u00a0<strong>Kurt Cobain<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Heavier than Heaven<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">, in 2001. He also founded the\u00a0<strong>Bruce Springsteen\u00a0<\/strong>fanzine\u00a0<\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Backstreets, <\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">which shut down in 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
