Rocker Greg Kihn<\/strong>, best known for hits like \u201cJeopardy\u201d and \u201cThe Breakup Song,\u201d passed away Aug. 13 at the age of 75.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Greg Kihn, an iconic figure in the realm of rock music,\u201d reads a post on <\/span>his official website<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. \u201cGreg lost his battle with Alzheimer\u2019s disease on 8\/13\/24 at the age of 75.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cKnown for his magnetic stage presence and unique storytelling that captivated audiences around the globe. He was not merely a musician but a cultural phenomenon whose influence will resonate for generations to come,” it continues.<\/span><\/p>\n

Born July 10, 1949, in Baltimore, Maryland, Kihn released his self-titled debut album in 1976, later releasing records under the name The Greg Kihn Band<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

They had their\u00a0first hit with 1981’s \u201c<\/span>The Breakup Song<\/strong><\/span><\/a>,\u201d which appeared on\u00a0their sixth studio album,\u00a0<\/span>RockKihnRoll<\/span><\/em>, and peaked at #15 on the <\/span>Billboard <\/span><\/em>Hot 100.\u00a0Their biggest hit was the 1983 release \u201c<\/span>Jeopardy<\/strong><\/span><\/a>,\u201d from the band\u2019s album <\/span>Kihnspiracy<\/span><\/em>. The tune went to #2 on the <\/span>Billboard<\/span><\/em> Hot 100 and was later parodied by “Weird Al” Yankovic<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0\u201c<\/span>I Lost on Jeopardy<\/strong><\/span><\/a>,\u201d with Kihn making a cameo appearance in the video.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kihn was also an author, publishing six novels, including 1996\u2019s <\/span>Horror Show,\u00a0<\/span><\/em>and\u00a0sequels <\/span>Rock Beat<\/span><\/em> and <\/span>Mojo Hand<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Kihn\u2019s name to <\/span>The Alzheimer\u2019s Association<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
