Legendary musician Tony Levin<\/strong>, best known for working with King Crimson<\/strong> and Peter Gabriel<\/strong>, is set to release the new studio album <\/span>Bringing It Down to the Bass<\/span><\/em>\u00a0on Sept. 13.<\/span><\/p>\n

The album, Levin\u2019s seventh solo effort and his first since 2007, is described as being semi-autobiographical, having themes taken from\u00a0his musical life. It features guest appearances by King Crimson\u2019s Robert Fripp<\/strong>,\u00a0 Dream Theater<\/strong>\u2019s Mike Portnoy<\/strong> and more.<\/span><\/p>\n

Levin is previewing\u00a0the record with the title track, which is <\/span>out now<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Levin says the album \u201ccould have been done a long time ago,\u201d but he ran into a problem of being too busy, noting that\u2019s \u201ca very good problem to have.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI have a lot of touring and that\u2019s what I love to do, playing live,\u201d he adds. \u201cIt just didn\u2019t give me much time at home to work on finishing the album that I\u2019ve been working on for five or six years.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Bringing It Down to the Bass<\/span><\/em>\u00a0will be released digitally and on CD, double vinyl and Blu-Ray, which features a variety of mixes, including Dolby Atmos and hi-res stereo audio. It is <\/span>available for preorder<\/strong><\/span><\/a> now.<\/span><\/p>\n

And speaking of playing live, Levin is set to hit the road with\u00a0Adrian Belew<\/strong>,\u00a0Steve Vai <\/strong>and Tool<\/strong> drummer Danny Carey\u00a0<\/strong>\ufeffon the BEAT tour,\u00a0celebrating\u00a0King Crimson’s ’80s-era music. The tour kicks off Sept. 12 in San Jose, California.<\/span><\/p>\n
