Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz<\/strong> ended his speech at the DNC Wednesday and walked\u00a0off the stage to Neil Young<\/strong>\u2019s classic tune \u201cRockin\u2019 In The Free World,\u201d and it turns out Young was perfectly\u00a0OK with that.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reps for Young have confirmed to ABC Audio that the rocker personally gave his permission to allow Walz to use the track, which originally appeared on Young’s 1989 album,\u00a0<\/span>Freedom<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s far from the first time “Rockin’ In The Free World” has been used by a politician, but Young hasn’t always been happy about it. In fact, in the past he’s\u00a0threatened to sue Donald Trump<\/strong> over his repeated use of the song. Trump first used the song when he announced he planned to run for president back in 2015, then used it in subsequent rallies over the years.<\/span><\/p>\n

News of Young\u2019s approval was first reported by <\/span>CNN<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

And Young\u2019s tune wasn\u2019t the only classic track to soundtrack Walz\u2019s appearance at the DNC. Ahead of his speech he walked out to John Mellencamp<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cSmall Town.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
